Labor Day 2023

A friend recently asked why we celebrate Labor Day in America. I could rattle off how labor was organized, the Hay Market riots, Riots at the Pullman factory, and other examples of how delivery rose against industry titans in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

However, what is the meaning today? As Americans, we look at things such as daycare access when both parents have to work. Equal pay for women and other protected classes for the same job that others who are not protected perform. Allow more fathers to have access to paternity leave. Lastly, employees need employers to understand that burnout exists, and they need to accommodate their employees so that they are bursting with energy and want to come to work. They are ready to seize the day, all in the name of increasing performance and productivity. Happy, engaged, and satisfied workers lead to innovation and significant business growth.
